The Vaccine Group CEO, Dr Jeremy Salt, has been selected to sit on the Executive Committee of the Global African Swine Fever Research Alliance (GARA). Jeremy will act as Finance Director working with the Executive Committee members and stakeholders to secure sponsors to support the activities of GARA, which includes the organisation of both global and regional meetings attended by the world’s ASF research, policy and commercial contributors. This appointment strengthens TVG’s connections with the global African Swine Fever research and control community.
African Swine Fever is an epidemic affected pig producers globally, with a high risk of dissemination into areas that have been unaffected to date. There is no widely available vaccine and an effective vaccine has significant value from an animal welfare, food security and commercial perspective.
TVG recently announced that its candidate vaccine against African Swine Fever is currently undergoing animal challenge trials funded by the UK’s BBSRC with partner The Pirbright Institute.
