TVG Award winner at 2023 University of Plymouth graduation

Alice Nunn receives award from TVG CSO Michael Jarvis at her graduation.

In October 2023, The Vaccine Group (TVG) sponsored the graduation awards for the highest achievers in all three years of the BSc Biomedical Science (hons) Degree. The recipient of the Year Three Award was Alice Nunn (pictured above receiving her award from our CSO, Dr Michael Jarvis).

Alice was selected for the award as she achieved the highest first-class degree overall within her Biomedical cohort. A major component that contributed to her overall grade was her dissertation project. During her university years, she had cultivated a strong interest for neurobiology, which shaped her research. Working with Prof. Robert Fern, Alice focused her project on understanding the regions of the brain most susceptible to neuroinflammation. She identified a number of regions that should be closely monitored during neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Alice remains interested in understanding the intricate mechanisms of how the human body functions and aims to further her academic career through studying postgraduate medicine. Alice is excited in how these studies will give her more of a clinical perspective and further develop her biomedical science skillset.

When asked about receiving the award, Alice said:

“It is a privilege to be a recipient for the ‘Biomedical Science Final Year Highest Achiever Award’, which was sponsored by TVG. Throughout the programme, I maintained a strong passion and dedication to advancing my knowledge in the field. As a result, being acknowledged for my diligent studies among esteemed scientists is truly an honour.”
