About Feline immunodeficiency virus

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) affects domestic cats worldwide, as well as other felid species such as lions, leopards and tigers, where it causes immune dysfunction. Transmission is through saliva in bite wounds or during grooming. Controlling the disease is complicated by subclinical symptoms during the early stages of infection.
